Job Description

As an integral member of our Emergency Management team, you will play a critical role in helping communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other potential crises. Planners for SRP Partners will be expected to:   

  • Assist with development, implementation, and maintenance of emergency management plans and procedures.

  • Conduct risk assessments, identify potential hazards and vulnerabilities, and analyze data and trends to inform emergency management planning and decision-making.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including other emergency management professionals, Federal, State, and local government agency staff, Community Based Organizations, and others to ensure effective emergency preparedness, response, recovery.

  • Coordinate and conduct emergency drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency plans.

  • Facilitate training sessions and workshops.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with local, state, and federal emergency management agencies and organizations.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge on current emergency management practices and policies and provide recommendations for improvements as needed.  

Preferred Qualifications

Professionals with prior Federal Emergency Management Agency and/or Maryland Department of Emergency Management experience are preferred. Priority will be given to candidates with additional specialized expertise, including:

  • Emergency Management Planning (general)

  • Public Health Planning

  • Logistics, Supply Chain, and Resource Management Planning

  • Community Planning (Urban, Rural, Regional, Land Use, and/or Economic Development)

  • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program Planning

  • Hazard Mitigation Planning and Project Management

Candidates located within the Washington DC metropolitan area, especially Montgomery County, Maryland are encouraged to apply.

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation range for this role is $34/hr. to $55/hr.

Compensation is dependent upon education, professional background, and years of prior experience, according to existing contractual guidelines.

Travel Requirement

Some positions may require travel to disaster-affected areas for an extended period, on a case-by-case basis. Successful candidates must be willing and able to work in deployed status, away from home. When required, travel costs (including per diem) will be reimbursed at prevailing GSA rates.
